TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Qualification
6 games (entries and re-entries)
48 players will qualify for the final step 1 from three categories (A, B and C), defined as follows:
Qualification Category A
The highest positioned player from each of the 15 qualification squads.
If a player is the highest positioned in more than one squad, then one more player will qualify from Category B.
If a player is the highest positioned in a squad and also qualifies from Category B, then one more player will qualify from Category B.
Qualification Category B
As a minimum players positioned 1-27 in the general qualification standing.
In addition players positions 28-NN (to supplement double squad winners and players qualified both from Category A and B, as many as needed to reach a total of 42 players from A+B.
Qualification Category C
The 6 highest positioned women not qualified from Category A or B.
Additional qualification rules
50% of the pin fall from the highest qualification score produced by each to the qualified players will be carried forward to the final step 1. When the qualification score has been reduced with 50%, eventually half pins left back will not be counted in.
The 48 players will be ranked 1-48 for the first final step, according to the pin fall carried forward. This ranking is only in use for the division of the 48 players in two pools of 24 players.
Final step 1
48 players will bowl 4 games with 50% of the pin fall from the qualification carried forward.
Top 24 will qualify for the final step 2.
The players not continuing to the final step 2 will be ranked 25-48 according to their positions in the standing of the final step 1.
Final step 2
24 players will bowl 4 games with the pin fall after the final step 1 carried forward.
Top 3 will qualify for the final step 3.
The players not continuing to the final step 3 will be ranked 3-24 according to their positions in the standing of the final step 2.
Final step 3
There will be 2 stepladder matches.
A references to positions is to positions after the final step 2.
Stepladder match 1
The player positioned 3 and the player positioned 2 will play a one game match.
The looser of the match will be ranked 3 in the final tournament standing.
Stepladder match 2
The winner of match 1 and the player positioned 1 will play a one game match.
The looser of the match will be ranked 2.
The winner of the match will be ranked 1.
TOURNAMENT TIE RULES
Qualification the final step 1 and 2
In case of a tie, the highest ranked player will be the player with the highest last game. If a tie still exists the highest ranked player will be the player with the highest second last game, then the player with the highest third last game etc.
Final step 3
In case of a tie in any game in any match, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken.
